Cam Twisters Minutes                                                                                                   May 12, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 7:04 P.M.  Members not present were:          Glen & Dee Ann, Butch & Kathy,
Andy & Connie, Terry, John & Kay, Lee G.   Bonnie read the minutes from last month’s meeting.  Peggy motioned to
accept the minutes as read Sharon L. seconded it.  Leslie read the treasurer’s report.  Peggy motioned to accept the
treasurer’s report as read and Sharon L. seconded it.

Old Business

Ron F. announced that the Meguiar’s buffing class will be held at his house on Sept. 26, 2009 and it will be $50 for each
person attending.
George announced that the Safety Inspection held at their house was a great success.  There were 17 or 18 cars and
everyone had a good time.  There was very good participation at the Bakersfield Show also.  Ray and Fred won awards.
Everyone had a great time at the Morro Bay Show even though George and Sharron had a little mishap with their car on
the way over.
George introduced prospective members Steve and Susan C.  They bought a 1940 Ford two door sedan which happens to
be the Cam Twisters colors, orange and black.
It was announced that the Pandraggers may not do a car show again.
George and Bonnie checked into the absenteeism. George read the letter that will be sent to Glen and Dee Ann
regarding their frequent absences.  George suggested making a provision for inactive members because we have had
people resign because they are  unable to be active members.
Ken spoke about goodie bags and merchants awards.  Some of his ideas for merchant’s awards were mugs, blankets,
and buttons.  Bob C. said the trophy shop can stencil our car show information on the mug and we can have it blasted.
It would cost less than the plaques.  The mugs seemed like the best way to go.  Ken, Peggy and Sharron T. had samples
of canvas bags we could use for the goodie bags.  Everyone liked the one Ken had and wanted it done in black with
orange lettering  to say “On The Roof”.  The bag is $3.95 and Ken will check into the cost of the lettering.  He will then
email Janet with the cost and she will email all the members so we can decide if we are going to have the bags this year. It
was suggested that we give them to the pre-registered entrants and let others buy them if they want one and just use the
plastic bags for the goodie bags as we have in the past.  Next year we can put them on the registration form and charge a
minimal amount if they are a success this year.
Ken also had samples of posters and asked which size we wanted to use. The size was decided and he said it will have
the same picture of Edwards Theater and the cars.  It was suggested that we use the River Park Fountain instead of
Edwards.  Peggy motioned we use the fountain, Ron F. seconded it and everyone agreed.
The Castle Air Force Base run will be Sunday, June 7, 2009.  We will meet at Maywood Shopping Center on Ave 12 and
leave at 9:30.  We can have breakfast at the Ranchos Café before we leave.  Admission is $5.00 per person and $4.00 for
seniors 60 and over.  There will be a guided tour at 12:00.  There is nothing to eat there except ice cream and sodas. We
can stop on the way home and eat if we want to.
On Sept. 12, 2009 Pinks will be filmed at Bakersfield for anyone that is interested.
On Oct 10, 2009 Eagle Field, which is an old military air field near Dos Palos, will have a 1/8 mi. drag strip for 1962 cars
and older with a flag start.
The weekend after the 4th of July there will be an auto cross at the Fresno Fairgrounds.
Next year the Bakersfield Show will be 1980 and older.  Bob C. said that may be changed.
There will be a run to Hanford for ice cream at Superior Dairy.  Fliers will be available with the date and time next
month.  Janet said that Sneed Ins. will give us goodies for our show if we put their link on our website and she wanted
permission to do so.  It was discussed and suggested that it be put on the sponsor page.  Peggy motioned to put the link
on the website and Debbie seconded it.
Lee announced the upcoming events. He said there will be a car show at Herndon & West Friday, May 22, 2009

and then once a month through the summer.  He said he had fliers for the Northside Church show on June 6, 2009.
Mel said the National Guard Show will be on Sept. 12, 2009.  Let him know if you are interested.  He said he got a call
from an Oregon car club that will be coming through Fresno on May 3, 2009 to see the Underground Gardens and
wanted to know what there was to do in Fresno.  Mel suggested that our club meet their club at Fat Jacks on Sunday at
6:00 P.M.  Anyone interested let Mel know.  Peggy said that Chuck from FEAT told her that he is starting to get raffle
prizes for the car show.  Peggy also said that Pearl was home from the hospital and said she would let everyone know
what we can do to help.  Fred said the Shaver Lake car show will probably not happen this year because they have no one
to put it on.  He asked if the Cam Twisters would be willing to help put it on.  Everyone agreed that we have too much to
do for our own car show.  Peg reminded everyone about the Bunco Party on May 30, 2009 and said it would be $5.00
per person.  Ray motioned that the meeting be adjourned and Ed seconded it.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 P.M.
                   Respectfully submitted     Bonnie

Ray's win in Bakersfield
Congratulations Ray!!
Peg and I met at Taft high school and have been together ever since. We were married in
1969 and have twin boys now 35, and have a 4 yr. old and a 2 yr. old grand child.  We moved
to Fresno in 1969, as I was going to FSU. (Fresno State College at that time). I am owner of
Cameo Custom Builders and Peg works for AT&T. We still live in the same house that I built
in 1978.
I taught wood shop at Caruthers High for 16 yrs., but I am now back doing remodeling.
Peg has worked for Pac. Bell, AT&T, Cingular wireless, and back to AT&T as they merged and
split up and back.
I bought a 1938 Chevy coupe in 1995 from Ken Colombini. He started it and had replaced
the floor, sand blasted the body, installed the mustang ll front end, Versailles disk brake rear
end, and then got tired of it. I bought it and started the long 7 year build. I did everything else
myself including paint and upholstery in my 2 car garage. This is my first street rod attempt
even though I have been car crazy for over 45 years

Do you know this club Member?
The following is a new section I would like to include in the newsletter.
BUT it will take some work on YOUR part.  I just happened across the picture below and wanted to tease a fellow
member so here it is.  Now if you have a photo of a member - say from HS or youth - get me the photo,
and we can all have a good laugh.   What do you think?  Or maybe you have a funny story about one of the members.
Something outrageous, stupid, clumsy,  unplanned, whatever, but something we could chuckle about.  And it doesn't have
to have anything to do with hot rods.  Send it to me for the next newsletter.  Remember the newsletter is yours.
I just put t things on paper and try to make them look good.  Help me here Twisters!!
The gentlemen on the far left is
A.J. Foyt (4 time Indy winner)
The mustached male in the middle is
Jeff Gordon (winner at Indiana Fair grounds)
But who is that guy in the
blue and white shirt?
If you know give him a hug
at the next meeting
Dear CamTwisters:
We were a little late for the last edition of our newsletter, but we wanted to let you all know of
our deep appreciation.
Just a little note to our CamTwister Family thanking all of you for the flowers and the out-
pour of concern all of you have shown for Frank while he was in the hospital.  So many of you
called, daily, went to visit, daily, and sent cards.  The time seemed to pass for him with all the
visits.  The nursing staff thought Frank was running for office.  I don't know much about other
clubs, but this clubs members shine like bright stars in the sky.
Frank is doing much better and has gotten his strength back this I know because he has
started talking about the upcoming car shows being he has missed a couple.
A special thanks to all who went to Bakersfield:  Sharron & George, Peggy, Pam & Lee,
Joyce & Ed, Connie & Andy, Terry & Fred, Bonnie & Ron, Judy & Bob, Ginger & Jim, Mel and
Jan for taking care of things so we could leave.  Oh!  You too BOB!!!
Love you guys,
                                       Frank and Leslie
              Special Thanks from a Member
NEW MEMBER SECTION:  Bob and Peggy brought prospective members Steve and Susan to
our last meeting.  And here's a little information.  There where married this year on January
13.  Five years after the 35th class reunion for McLane HS.  They hadn't seen each other
since high school.  Susan is a hair stylist and Steve hauls demolition.  They have 4 boys
between them and four grand kids.  Their home is in Sanger on five acres so they have
plenty to do.  They purchased their first street rod in Bakersfield this year.  They have
attended CamTwister events on an Indian motorcycle in the past but are looking forward to
the same events in their Ford.   Info provided by  Susan.         Thanks   jk
